These Brownfield redevelopment activities are aimed at improving blighted and underutilized areas in the County, improving the health and safety of its citizens through remediation of contaminated sites, increasing the County’s tax base, spurring job creation, and where applicable, kick-starting revitalization activities. The first phase of this strategy analyzed existing strategies; produced a comprehensive inventory of brownfield sites; and proposed several marketing recommendations for their remediation, disposition, and reuse/redevelopment. Phase two of this effort will advance/implement phase one marketing recommendations, including the development of a web-based tool to market our desirable inventory of brownfield properties. The GIS-based tool will identify brownfield properties throughout Chautauqua County, along with all available data relevant to their redevelopment, and a listing and description of financial incentives and redevelopment tools available to potential developers.
