The Chautauqua County Department of Planning & Development has been spearheading an effort to develop a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) for the County’s 10 Lake Erie communities. Run by the New York Department of State (DOS), the LWRP enables communities to engage in thoughtful planning for their valuable waterfronts and to access grant funding to implement those plans.
The final Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan will help preserve, restore and celebrate the resources of Northern Chautauqua County on the Lake Erie shoreline including its water quality, natural environment and communities. It will document a strategy to increase exploration and enjoyment of the area’s abundant natural areas and to revitalize its downtowns.
Currently, the Department is working with the DOS and partnering communities to revise the draft LWRP plan.
