Partnership for Economic Growth Seeks Proposals for Downtown Revitalization Planning & Complete Streets Funding
DUNKIRK, N.Y.: The Chautauqua County Partnership for Economic Growth (CCPEG) invites municipalities to apply for planning and funding support for two new program opportunities. These programs include planning support for creating a Downtown Revitalization Master Plan and planning and/or funding support for Complete Streets Projects. Downtown Revitalization Master Planning is intended to assist municipalities in identifying transformative projects that align with New York State’s NY Forward program and the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council’s goals. The Complete Streets Program is designed to help municipalities plan, design, and/or implement complete streets projects that enable safe access, promote physical activity, and increase connectivity for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and transit riders of all ages and abilities.
“In 2022, the Partnership for Economic Growth supported 13 projects throughout the county, and based on the success of these initiatives, we are going to continue to provide support in 2023 for high priority projects designed to spur economic development within Chautauqua County,” said Mark Geise, Deputy County Executive for Economic Development. “These synergistic partnerships have proven to be an outstanding formula for leveraging other resources, thereby resulting in shared prosperity, and we are pleased to be supporting projects that build on the momentum we are creating throughout the county.”
CCPEG’s Downtown Revitalization Master Planning Program will select a maximum of two communities to receive master planning assistance from CCPEG and its consultants. These selected municipalities will undertake a planning process that helps cultivate a vision for the downtown, identify projects that enliven their downtown, and ultimately develop a master plan that sets the stage for a variety of resources including but not limited to: the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) and/or NY Forward program, Restore NY Communities Initiative, the Regional Economic Development Council Resources, and/or other NYS Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) resources.
The Complete Streets Program will include select projects identified as having potential for safe passage, connectivity between significant community access points, and promote physical activity. Support could include technical assistance and/or implementation funding for specific projects that have been previously conceived. Grant awards typically range between $5,000 and $20,000, with $40,000 being budgeted for the program.
