6th Annual Chautauqua Farmer-Neighbor Dinner

The public is invited to attend the upcoming Chautauqua Farmer-Neighbor Dinner on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at “The Grandview of Ellington”, 1116 West Hill Road, Ellington, NY. The event will begin at 5:00pm with a social hour including appetizers and an opportunity to visit with agricultural producers and sponsors of the event. At 6:15pm, enjoy a dinner buffet featuring a bounty of Chautauqua County produced foods. Following dinner, awards to recognize local leadership, excellence, and innovation in agriculture will be presented. As a guest, you will be able to look forward to hearing a multi-generational perspective on agriculture in the County.

Chautauqua County is rich in agriculture and home to over 1,225 farms. With such prominence in our County, it is something many have come to know and love. Our community is fortunate to enjoy rural landscapes that are preserved by our farming operations along with access to wholesome, locally produced foods. This event is an opportunity to celebrate our community’s farmers that work tirelessly to produce safe, wholesome food for all to consume. The Farmer-Neighbor Dinner not only celebrates those in Chautauqua County that produce our food but also allows the community to form a relationship with them. What better way to become informed than to visit with those who work 365 days a year within the industry? This is an opportunity for the community to immerse themselves within the agricultural world.

This farm to table dinner will showcase a variety of food products which are sure to make your taste buds water. While each years’ dinner is different, you can expect to find maple syrup, honey, lamb, chicken, beef, pork, fruits, and vegetables provided by local farmers and prepared by 3C’s Catering of Kennedy, NY. No farm to table dinner would be complete without locally produced beverages including beer, wine, milk and grape juice.

New this year, be an Agricultural Advocate for $175 which includes a reserved table for 8 (full table) and name in the event program. Individual dinner tickets are available for $20 per person with children 12 and under $10. Please contact Cassandra Skal at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County at (716) 664-9502 ext. 202 or cks83@cornell.edu to reserve your tickets. If you are interested in helping to sponsor the program with a monetary donation or local food donation, please contact Cassandra Skal.

This event is hosted by the Chautauqua Farmer-Neighbor Committee a collaboration between public and private businesses supporting agriculture and local producers. A thank you goes out to our current Barnraiser Sponsor: Farm Credit East, a financial cooperative providing credit and financial services to farmers and agribusinesses.
