Linda DeJoseph is an instructor at Jamestown Community College (JCC). She coordinates both the school’s Single Parents Reaching Education (SPREE) program and the school’s food pantry. This provides her with an insight into food security on both JCC’s campus as well as the community. Linda cites a number of issues related to food security for JCC students, including the lack of transportation and lack of nearby healthy food options. She mentions that farmer’s markets are a great way to alleviate issues of access, but are only seasonally active. Linda hopes to improve access to local healthy foods for both the campus community and the greater community as a whole.
