The Tourism Product Development Grant Program is funded through the County’s 5% Occupancy Tax, which is generated from the rental of lodging units within Chautauqua County. Sixty cents of every occupancy tax dollar (3%) support tourism initiatives, while forty cents (2%) are dedicated to the enhancement and protection of local lakes and streams. Each fund supports a separate competitive grant program.
This page applies to the 3% Occupancy Tax Tourism Product Development Grant. The program supports projects that strengthen and enhance Chautauqua County’s tourism offerings through placemaking and attraction development, tourism-focused marketing, and event development initiatives that attract visitors, enhance the visitor experience, encourage overnight stays, and increase overall tourism impact.
Funded projects should provide a public benefit and contribute to increased visitation, particularly from outside the County. Grant funds are intended for project-based investments and are not available for routine maintenance or operational expenses.
