Improving School Bus Safety Across New York
March 22, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Families across the state depend on a school bus to safely transport their children to and from school each day. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, students are about 70 times more likely to get to school safely when taking a school bus instead of traveling by car. However, they are still vulnerable to injury. An increasingly high number of motorists—too many—illegally pass stopped school buses, putting our school children at risk.
This webinar is designed to discuss New York State Traffic laws designed to protect students who are getting on and off a school bus. Representatives from the Governor’s Traffic Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and the New York Association of Pupil Transportation will discuss how counties can help promote school budget safety in their communities.
