Intersection & Balance of Renewable Energy & Agricultural Development

Our presenters will discuss the intersection/balance between encouraging renewable energy development and agricultural development on rural land and what tools and policies are available to municipalities. We’ll hear from two attorneys on 487 exemption, comprehensive plans, zoning, approval process, etc as well as lease protections, the restoration bond, and financial and property terms. We will get an overall understanding and intersections between the role of prime soils, solar siting and agriculture, and the economic impact that agriculture plays in a community. We will end with an overview of several solar ag projects and discuss how to work with farmers and landowners during this process.
