Successful Business Opportunities in the Climate Tech Manufacturing Sector: Examples from NYSERDA’s Advanced Buildings Program

Learn how NYSERDA Advanced Buildings programs can provide pathways to decarbonization of buildings in New York state. The presenters will provide details on NYSERDA initiatives and some examples of successful projects.
Speakers
Joseph Borowiec – NYSERDA Program Manager, Advanced Buildings Mr. Borowiec has been with NYSERDA for 20 plus years focused on the development and commercialization of building energy efficiency and carbon reduction technologies. Prior to joining NYSERDA, Mr Borowiec was a research engineer for 21 years with GE’s Research and Development Center. Mr Borowiec holds 21 US patents and has BS in electrical engineering, MS Computer Science, and and a MBA fro Union College.
Robert Carver, P.E., DGCP – NYSERDA Senior Project Manager Robert Carver is a member of the research and development staff and is responsible for developing and managing projects for improving the energy efficiency of buildings. His focus is on building envelopes, indoor air quality, solar thermal, and heat pumps. Results of these projects have led to commercial products and have informed building codes and public policy. He has served on steering committees and technical advisory groups for air conditioning equipment, solar thermal technologies, green building tax legislation, and climate action plans. Robert has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron and Master’s in Business Administration from the University at Albany. He also is licensed as a professional engineer.
