Recent trends in peer-to-peer home rental programs have increased the opportunity for your neighbors to rental their vacant apartment for the weekend.  This increase in transient tenants has heightened the potential for neighborhood impacts.  This presentation will discuss measures to regulate short-term rentals in your community.  We’ll address such questions as; do you want to prohibit or regulate short-term rentals in residential neighborhoods?  How can you mitigate impacts and concerns related to personal safety, noise, parking, garbage and the general effects on community character?  What about displacement of long-term housing?  …and don’t forget, if you choose to regulate, your comprehensive plan should relate the municipality’s intentions and provide a rational supporting short-term regulation.
